Can you still become a foster parent and be on parole?

A friend has a criminal history which all happen nearly 15 years ago. He is still on parole today. His charges are mostly drug related. Will he be disqualified due to still being on parole%26gt;Can you still become a foster parent and be on parole?
More than likely yes he will be disqualified. Can you still become a foster parent and be on parole?
I think he would. The idea of foster care is to put the child in the best possible placement a person on parole would be looked at as a risk. When applying to become a foster parent it is a long process with many checks and balances one of the checks is Criminal history.
Maybe your best bet is to call Department of Human Services

(they handle child welfare

The phone no. for DHS is: 1300 650 172 (inside australia)
Yeah most definitively..Foster kids may be desperate , but they certainly don't need to be around a criminal. They had enough of a bad start already.Don't you think?
Parole for 15 years! what did he do, run a cartel? I certainly wouldn't put a child with this person, but our courts do a horrible job of protecting children, so it just might happen.
i can't see them giving foster children to convicted drug abusers/sellers. But he could give it a go.
Yes, you will be disqualified. Kind of gave away that you're talking about yourself with your name ';foster parent'; and all
I hope so...anything that happened 15 years ago and they are still on parole was no little thing...
I would definitely think so.
It's not a good sign as it means he's been jailed in the past, he would probably be unsuccessful as there are thousands of other people who want to foster but have not been jailed for drug offenses.
Yes.
thats a big fat yes
