How old do you have to be that you don't have to use your parent's income for federal loans and grants?

I will be 24 in 2009 but not until august of 09. If I wanted to apply for the spring semester 2009 will they still go by my parents income? should i wait until next fall? i'm really ready to go back. thanks a lot!!How old do you have to be that you don't have to use your parent's income for federal loans and grants?
Yeah, that sucks. Happened to me too. You have to be either married, have a baby, or 24 to do it on your own.
