A young teacher is an asset, not a detriment. They will have enthusiasm and energy.

If the parent sues a public school for not getting their way, then that parent is a major a**hole.
~*~ I've worked for a school district for several years... In my district if a parent has a problem with a teacher that they don't approve of, all they have to do is go to the office and fill out a request to change teachers.. It doesn't have to get blown out of proportion to the point of suing the district. If the parent can't seem to get the principal to agree to move the child to another classroom, they can usually go down to complain at district level and request him/her to be moved to another school. Most of the time parents have legitimate concerns but I have seen in personal experience, parents who most of the time blow everything out of proportion and want to sue the district for every little thing that happens to them.. its sad really...~*~
What is your problem with younger teachers. You know that there are a lot of requirements to become a teacher these days, to include you have to have two years of TA time in your Undergraduate time and 1 year in your graduate time. Also schools are not just hiring anyone, these people have to not only graduate school, but pass teaching test, are probationary for the first 3 years with a mentor. I bet if you wanted to be a teacher you wouldn't want some parent trying to get rid of you.

1. You should know that as long as the person is qualified the school is not breaking any laws.

2. It is illegal for a school to not hire someone because of age, and your lawsuit would be in violation of that teachers and the schools rights. I doubt a lawyer would even take the case.

3. That teacher will probably have a lot more information and ability to deal with your child's needs as they are younger, most older teachers can't understand children as well.

4. Get over it, this is the way of the world. I think you should first get to know of the teachers qualifications before you judge their age, and if you are still not happy then higher a private teacher at home, or home school yourself cause there is nothing you can do about it.
tell the parents to home school their kid or ship the kid to another school
Why should it matter? You'll never win a lawsuit against a school for such a trivial reason. You have the option to send your child to another school.
Review the official policy and plan accordingly. If the school's public, chances are the parents don't have a valid case. Nonetheless, they should try to settle the parents and if nothing seems to work, switch the class to avoid going to class over something so ridiculous.

If the school's private or parochial, the school should absolutely place the child in another class for the same reasons as well as to retain the student's tuition. What's worse is if the family opts to pull their kid from the school since now, there'd a financial issue as well.
They should ignore that parent's threat to sue, because individual parents do not have a legal right to overrule the managerial decisions of school systems.
Why are you so angry about this? Please, share that you are going to be nasty to the young teacher and I'm sure that the school will happily put you with an older teacher. I am sorry that your child will miss out on working with a wonderful professional just because of your biases.
